What is a rug pull?

A rug pull is when a token's creators suddenly remove its liquidity or dump their holdings, collapsing the price and leaving other holders unable to sell at any meaningful value.

On Solana and Pump.fun, the most common form is liquidity removal: once buyers have pushed the price up, the team withdraws the paired SOL from the pool, so there is nothing left to sell into. Another form is a large insider or dev wallet selling its entire allocation at once.

Rug pulls are a leading cause of total loss in new tokens. Signals that reduce - but never eliminate - the risk include locked or burned liquidity, a broad holder base, and the creator holding only a small share. PumpScore reads observable market structure but cannot detect intent, so always verify the contract yourself.
